2016 Amarone Della Valpolicella Cassico “Centenaire”
Typical of most Amarone the grapes are hung on the vine for about a month longer then dried for another three months to concentrate the fruit and sugars. Long slow fermentation is followed by a minimum aging of 30 months in barrel and 1 year in bottle. It’s an extremely robust Amarone but most certainly quite approachable now. The 2016 was simply brilliant so it also carries with it the possibility of ageing even more. Supply of this wine is extremely limited so we were thrilled to have access to this gem of a wine. A Decanter World Wine Award Gold medal winner scoring 95 points! (see below)

Vinification:
Spontaneous fermentation in 26hl tapered wooden vats. Refinement take place over 30 months in French oak barrels of various sizes then followed by one year resting in bottle.
Tasting:
“An exceedingly balanced Amarone, hailing from some of Tenuta Villa Bellini’s top fruit. It’s a classical beauty with fresh flowers, red cherries and raspberries wrapped in a cloak of creamy vanilla oak and relaxing velvety tannins.” Decanter 95 points
Try with:
Steed or braised red meat, game bird, rich and flavorsome cheeses. It’s complexity and richness make it desirable as a solitary sipping wine!
