2022 Chianti Colli Senesi
2022 Chianti Colli Senesi
2022 Chianti Colli Senesi
Chianti Colli Senesi is one of the 8 sub-zones of Chianti and perhaps Chianti’s most significant subzone (after Chianti Classico) due to its high-quality soils. It is one of the larger sub-regions covering some of the most famed vineyard areas in all of Tuscany, as it overlaps portions of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and Brunello di Montalcino in the hills surrounding Siena. There is a wide variety of soil types and micro-climates which can readily determine flavour and quality, but Palagetto is well situated to produce a complex yet restrained version of their Chianti. The combination of limestone below fossilized stone and covered with yellow sand develop complex fruit and firm acidity. Employing minimum use of older barrels results in a fresh style exhibiting lovely floral notes along with a core of spicy dark berry finishing savoury flavours and firm tannins.
